If you’re looking to make money online, it can seem like a daunting process. You have to find an idea that people want, market it effectively, and do it all without breaking any laws. Luckily, there are plenty of ways to make money from your phone that are much easier than the traditional start your own business model—you don’t even need to leave your couch! In this article, we’ll cover some of the best ways to earn cash on your phone while you wait in line at the grocery store or watch TV at night.
1) Playing Games
A great way to make some easy money is by playing games on your phone. If you’re a good player and you’re willing to put in some time, there are companies that will pay you for winning matches against other people or AI. Some of these apps even let you bet real money. Pretty cool, right?
If you’re not a game person, there are other ways to earn money from your phone. For example, you can sign up for paid surveys. Some of these online surveys will give you a decent chunk of change just for sharing your opinion with a company. I also know people who make banks work as mystery shoppers—you get paid to go into businesses and rate their service and employees.
2) Online Shopping
You might think that online shopping isn’t a way to make money, but it actually is. Sites like Ebates give you cash back in exchange for buying products from specific brands, and some credit card companies offer cashback bonuses for purchases made online. And if you have a smartphone, there are apps out there that let you monitor your daily spending and track rewards programs to ensure you’re getting paid back in full.
3) Join Rewards Programs
Rewards programs offer a passive way to make money online. The rewards sites give you points for doing things like shopping at your favorite stores, taking surveys, and completing other various tasks. After enough points are accumulated, you can redeem them for a gift card or even cash via PayPal or direct deposit. While many rewards sites are available online, some have restrictions based on where you live. You’ll want to check out each site’s terms of service before signing up.
4) Refer Friends
If you’re reading these tips, chances are you have a smartphone. The good news is, that means you can make money with it. There are many different ways to make money online, but here’s one of my favorites: refer friends and family to services they might need.
Let’s say you have a friend who’s moving into a new place. Instead of sending them fliers for different moving companies, send them a link to one—and get paid for it. If your best friend is expecting her first child, tell her about all of her pregnancy apps and let her know that she can refer you when she needs baby supplies (like diapers).
With so many ways to make money on your phone, there are plenty of opportunities out there.
5) Share Deals
If you’re using an app like Uber or Airbnb, you could easily make a few extra bucks by sharing your products or services with others. You won’t get rich doing it, but it’s a nice way to make some cash while going about your day. A great example of passive income is building websites. Sites like WordPress, Wix, and Weebly allow users to create professional-looking websites without any coding knowledge whatsoever.
6) Offer Professional Services.
One of my favorite ways to make money on my phone is through offering professional services. Freelancing gives you more control over your schedule, income, and what you’re doing with your time. Plus, it’s another way for you to strengthen your expertise and grow your network—two important steps in getting promoted or finding a new job! Whatever services you decide to offer (or are already offering), now’s as good a time as any to start recording them in an online portfolio.
7) Sell Something Online
This is an easy one for beginners. Sites like eBay and Amazon make it simple to set up an online storefront, even if you don’t have your own product or inventory. This can be a great way to make money quickly because you don’t have to start from scratch—you just get in front of buyers looking for someone exactly like you. You may need some startup capital before getting started, though.
8) Utilizing Gig Apps
More and more people are turning to gig apps as a source of passive income. You’ll need to put in some work upfront, but there are companies like Amazon Mechanical Turk and Survey Junkie that can help you make extra money by taking advantage of opportunities as they arise. And if you have an entrepreneurial spirit, there are opportunities to launch your own gig app business from scratch.
If you’re interested in starting your own gig app business, there are several things you need to keep in mind. First, plan out a solid value proposition—whether it’s connecting people with service providers or giving consumers access to free products, people need to know why they should use your app. Make sure you can actually execute on that value proposition before spending time and money building out an app. When considering how much money you want to make from your app, be realistic about how long it will take.
